Electrical certificate of compliance (Coc)

A COC is a crucial document issued by a qualified installation electrician or electrical contractor. It serves as proof that the installation complies with relevant standards, regulations and code of practice.

It verifies that the electrical installation has been completed and meets the requirements.

Before issuing the COC, thorough testing and inspection of electrical installation need to be done. This may include checks for proper wiring connections, circuit protection, earthing and insulation resistance.

The COC is also a comprehensive record of the work done. Obtaining a COC is a legal requirement for new installations, alterations or additions to existing electrical systems.

It may also be required by insurance companies. A Valid COC is needed during property transactions or change of ownership transfers.
